National Bloggers Association – I Don’t Want It

The latest issue revolving around the Philippine Blogosphere is about the National Bloggers Association. It seems like someone or a few individuals wanted to form a group that would represent every blogger in the Philippines, and that is National Bloggers Association.

They said that the organization should be created to address the current problems reeking the internet particularly the Philippine blogging society. But instead, this created a whole new problem. This has caused more division than unity.

The name speaks for itself, National Bloggers Association – a group that will represent all the bloggers in the Philippines. Wait… What?! No one or no group should represent all the bloggers in the Philippines. Who the hell gave them that position? Who are they to set a standard in blogging? As far as I could remember – blogging should be personal, no outside influence should be enforeced in it. Having a standard in blogging is no different from Journalism.

I don’t think this is a good a idea. This might turned out to be a “money-making-machine”. Sorry to say but I can see thats where its headed to. I dont like it when someone is making money out of someone else’s pocket.

RiaJose posted on her blog that:

Among other issues concerning the manifesto and the association, one that irked me most was the non-inclusion of Visayas and Mindanao bloggers in the formulation of the manifesto and the “National” Bloggers Association. If the intention of unifying bloggers from all over the country through a “National” organization, then the consultation of Visayas and Mindanao bloggers should have been done even before the manifesto was drafted.

And as Marghil Macuha said:

it’s impossible to come-up a single unified stand about any issues.

It’s like having a National Religious Organization of the Philippines. It’s impossible for them to have a single stand since they have conflicting beliefs.

If this group aims to unify all the bloggers in Philippines, why they didn’t include those of Visayas and Mindanao? Was this rushed? They said that there are consultations going on, who are they consulting? They themselves? There is also the possibility that this group might be used for something else by someone/else. Politically? Perhaps.

Let me quote what Aileen Apolo said:

I’ll stick to joining or participating in select projects/activities since any attempt in the past (this the the nth attempt) never really flourished.

Yes, there are several attempts that happened to create group. Whether a SEO Group or a Blogger’s Group to an Ecommerce Group but it never reached the limelight.

Now before I end my ranting here, there are some things that I want to say personally.

  1. Before teaching others how to make money in the internet, you should have a proof that you really are earning from what you are teaching.
  2. And make sure that you really know whate you’re teaching to them.

I am not saying this to someone or somebody, but to all the wannabee gurus out there. Teaching a very simple thing like placing an adsense ad in a blogpost, or teaching how to create a blog post, or even teaching how to create a blog in exchange for a heck sum of money.

Reminder: This is what I think and what I want to say personally, I am not obligued to follow the standards or rules of anyone or any group.

  1. enough said buddy! i am not for this movement. It may sound classy (NBA) but I agree, blogging should independent from any group for general representation.

I smell this proposition very tricky so let’s beware.

  2. I won’t be surprised if one day, a party list representative will be seating in Congress representing the bloggers “kuno”.
